HVB Annual Meeting

Our Annual Meeting in 2021 will take place at the Harrogate Crowne Plaza, if COVID-19 restrictions allow.

We’re hoping to hold an in-person meeting, with delegates arriving late afternoon in time for a networking dinner on the evening of 22nd September, followed by a day of topical talks, updates from our research community of PoC and BIV award holders, opportunities for ECRs to present their work and flash presentations from HVB members. The meeting, including accommodation, is free to all HVB members, on a first come, first served basis. The provisional programme is available below and more details will be added in due course. Book by 9th August to reserve your free accommodation.

Government guidelines will be followed, and arrangements will be made to move to a virtual event if a physical event is not possible.

Wednesday, 22 September

Delegates can check in to the hotel from late afternoon, ready for drinks reception and networking dinner. We have Steve Bagshaw giving a pre-dinner talk on the work of the UK vaccines task force and lessons he’s learnt in this critical role.

Thursday, 23 September

Session 1

Network Conversation Starters

We’ll start our meeting with some thought-provoking talks intended to help start conversations between our members; sharing advice and leading to opportunities. We’ll learn why we should engage with policy, how regulations can help us to unlock the bioeconomy, and the benefits of an early technoeconomic analysis.

Session 2

We’ll hear from budding entrepreneurs within our network on their exciting plans to commercialise their research, hear how far they’ve got and their top tips on starting a business.

Session 3

Network Updates

Meet the successful recipients of the HVB flexible funds, learn about the research projects funded by HVB and the impact they’ve had.

Session 4

Open Session for HVB Members Presentations

Flash presentations from: Early Career Researchers, Technology Providers, SMEs & anyone who has research to share!

Meeting close & further networking opportunities: make the most of those face-to-face conversations that we’ve missed in 2020!
