A team of scientists from the Netherlands and the US has successfully used a bacterium, Shewanella oneidensis to produce graphene.

The bacterial reduction approach to produce graphene from graphene oxide is a more affordable alternative, which has a lower environmental impact than currently used chemical methods. More details of this research are available at https://doi.org/10.1002/open.201900186
