Novel enzyme could help convert plant waste into valuable chemicals 

A team of scientists from the US and the UK have engineered a new enzyme that catalyses a key reaction in the breakdown of lignin, a natural plant polymer. This enzyme could prove useful in the conversion of plant waste into valuable materials and chemicals.
