The international legal framework which governs access to genetic resources is provided by the Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which entered into force in 2014. The CETAF Code of Conduct on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) is the first Best Practice officially recognized by the European Commission to meet the requirements of the EU ABS regulation.
