HVB CALL FOR PROOF OF CONCEPT (PoC) PROJECTS 2021
CALL FOR PROJECTS TO ADDRESS ENGINEERING BIOLOGY CHALLENGES
This call is linked to the HVB workshop: Engineering Biology for High Value Biorenewables, which will be held online on 26-27 May 2021. HVB members can register for this event at: https://www.highvaluebiorenewables.net/events/hvb-workshop-engineering-biology-for-high-value-biorenewables/.
This funding call is focussed on engineering biology within the High Value Biorenewables scope. Engineering biology is the application of rigorous engineering principles to the design of biological systems, with the objective of contributing to economic activity and sustainable and resource-efficient solutions to the societal challenges faced in food, chemicals, materials, water, energy, health and environmental protection (Royal Academy of Engineering 2019).
HVB is keen to explore developments, challenges and future prospects in this field and the forthcoming workshop will address how engineering biology can be used to probe questions in fundamental biology and tackle industrial challenges within HVB scope.
We hope that associating a funding call to the workshop will enable the Network to make tangible progress on some of the challenges identified.
Whilst attendance at the workshop is strongly recommended, it is not a pre-requisite for PoC applicants.
If you want to check the scope of your project, please submit your project abstract to the Network Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org at least two weeks before the advertised closing date.
Deadline for applications: 10:00 on Monday, 12 July 2021
PoC guidelines and the application form are available in the resources panel.
